Tulipwood is a hardwood usually found in North America and it is a popular choice for skirting thanks to its light colour and hard wearing properties.

Also referred to as American Yellow Poplar, Tulipwood is perfect for skirting boards thanks to its smooth surface giving an excellent finish whether using paint or a wood stain. The wood is usually a very pale cream or even light green shade and it has distinctive dark streaks running through it. Unlike some softwoods, Tulipwood will not bleed resin from knots which is another reason it is a perfect choice of material for your home.
